How to prep for your trial
Congratulations! You’re engaged and ready to move forward with wedding planning. It’s time to book your hair and makeup trial…so, what do you need to do to successfully kick ass? I put together some tips and advice to make the most out of your bridal trial! A bridal trial is a preview of your hair and/or makeup for your big day! It’s important to make the most out of it. Your artist wants to be able to create exactly what you envision and these tips will help you both achieve that!
What to wear?
I suggest wearing a shirt that is white or a color that resembles your dress. Why? It’s a great way to get an idea of how your hair and makeup will look with your dress and help you better visualize!
How to prep for hair
Wash your hair the night before your trial and blow dry smooth (it doesn’t have to be perfect). If you are an overachiever ;) I suggest adding in a mousse before you blow dry. A light mousse if you have fine hair and something with a stronger hold if you have thick hair. This will have a great impact on the way your hair acts during the trial. Your hair artist will also prep with the necessary products to best achieve the look you’re going for.
How to prep for makeup
Arrive with a fresh, clean face! Avoid putting any products on your skin before your trial. The night before use a gentle exfoliating scrub to slew away any dead skin, and follow with moisturizer/ your skincare regime. Exfoliating is very important. This will avoid your makeup from looking “dry and blotchy.” If you aren’t already on a skincare regime, be prepared to be! This will help your makeup look and wear it’s best!
Additional tips
Take Notes
Take notes throughout the day after your hair and makeup trial is complete. How does your look hold up? Be descriptive, that way your artist can make adjustments if needed!
Take lots of photos
Taking photos will help you visually see how your hair and makeup will read on camera. Remember to find good lighting, this will make a big difference. Always have the light source in front of you, not behind.

Getting others opinions are great! I encourage it. Try to avoid getting too many though. It can get confusing having too many opinions. Remember this is YOUR day, do what makes YOU happy!
